I got this great photo from guests that joined my tour yesterday. Apart from the fact that I kind of look like an Icelandic troll on it (seriously, am I really that tall? Also: Must practice my photo smile) I like how happy they all look. Happy guests make a happy guide!.
This week has been a lot of fun filled with all kinds of unexpected incidents and surprising levels of nudity. We got all kinds of weather, ranging from sun and warmth to blizzard like snow, but as I always say: that’s just a part of your Iceland experience. Thankfully people are almost always dressed for it and ready for anything.
On Tuesday I celebrated the one year anniversary of my tours but on March 24th last year I took my first paying customers on a tour around town. I almost can’t believe it’s been a year already but they do say that time flies when you’re having fun and if there’s one thing this year has been then it’s definitely fun.
To celebrate the anniversary I surprised my guests by inviting them to lunch after the tour on Tuesday and Hrannar came and joined us. It was fun to celebrate with the very people that this tour is all about: our guests.
This week I’ve also been showered with amazing letters from previous guests that just wanted to let me know how much they enjoyed my tour. Some even wanted my address to send me a gift – I don’t hate that.
At times this winter I’ve had difficult days because of the weather and other things and I’ve wondered whether I can do this full time all the time. After a week like this one I no longer have any doubts and I’m sure I am exactly where I’m supposed to be. This is still the best job ever and I’m so grateful that you all have allowed me to do this for a whole year.
Here’s to you and many more years to come!
